FAQs
Is my consultation fee my deposit?
Yes, once you decide to get your alterations done with me. The consultation fee becomes your deposit and remaining alterations costs will be due whenever you pick up your gown. If you decide to not get your alterations done with me, the consultation fee is non-refundable.
How far in advance should I book my bridal alteration appointment?
You should book your initial consultation the same day you order/purchase your gown. Typically 4-6 months before your wedding day. Although, if you’re already past that timeline do not worry I offer 30—90 day turn around.
I do not have my dress yet, can I schedule an appointment?
Absolutely! Go here and schedule an appointment 8-9 weeks before your wedding date. This is a good rule of thumb to follow, however if your dress is delayed or gets here sooner, you can always reschedule your appointment.
Can you accommodate last-minute alterations or rush orders for brides with tight timelines?
Yes, at an additional rush fee and if availability allows.
How long does the alteration process typically take?
Typically 4-6 months. I offer a 30-90 day turnaround and will schedule your gown pick up 30 days before your wedding. This 30 day buffer gives us flexibility in case any of us gets sick and need to reschedule any appointments.
Exceptions: Life happens, nothing to worry about! I offer less than a 30 days turnaround and even a 3 day turn around for bridal emergencies at an additional cost.
Can you accommodate changes in my body shape or weight closer to the wedding date?
Absolutely, the key to this is COMMUNICATION! Whether you're on a weightloss journey or trying to get pregnant, always always let me know what is going on. This will allow me to create a tailored (no pun intended) timeline for your alterations and give you all the peace of mind possible. Always remember: Alterations are consequential, they should not restrict or govern your lifestyle. So you do you girl and let me worry about the rest!
How many fittings will I need for my gown?
See this more in detail in my Journey page.
What should I bring to my alteration appointments?
Your dress, wedding shoes, shape wear and any accessories you want to try out. You can also bring your veil if you want it steamed.
Do you provide steaming or pressing services for the gown before the wedding?
I do! You can find more about the additional services I offer on my services page.
What types of alterations do you specialize in?
I enjoy working on all types of bridal alterations, although I must say that total size makeovers have a special place in my heart and I thrive with them.
Do you offer customizations or embellishments for my gown?
I do, during your consultation I will advise on needed alterations and then you will have time to tell me about your bridal vision and we will discuss and design modifications together. There is no need to find your materials for these things, I am your personal shopper for all things gown!
What is the average cost of bridal alterations?
Average cost ranges from $600-$900. The fit, design, fabric and embellishment of your gown determines the ultimate cost of alterations and there is no way of knowing that exact number until you have an in person consultation.
